Welcome to our new Patron David Briggs

We’re delighted to introduce David Briggs as Platform for Life’s new Patron. David has supported and championed our charity from its earliest days and shares our commitment to helping low income families address poor mental health and stop it becoming a life long disability.

David has a 1st in Law from the University of St Andrews and an MBA from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. He was Managing Director of Dawsons Music from 1979 and sold the business in 2018.

He’s been Lord-Lieutenant of Cheshire since 2010 – The Queen’s representative in the County.  In addition to the ceremonial  role, he’s set Cheshire Community Foundation which has become a significant donor to Cheshire charities and Cheshire Connect which gets local business and professional people to give of their time and skill to help local charities.

Following his role as Chair of The Poverty Truth Commission in West Cheshire, David started an initiative called Community Connectors. This  helps people who require it find the support they need and joins up the many services which exist but can be difficult for those in need to locate without help.

“The biggest issue in Cheshire today is mental illness and I have been very impressed with the work which Platform for Life does to help those with mental challenges in their life. It would be impossible to exaggerate the importance of their work which for many of their clients is life changing. I much look forward to helping this special charity in any way that I can.”
