Regardless of our qualifications or level of experience, we all benefit from ongoing training. When you join Platform for Life, whether as a Trustee, volunteer, sessional counsellor or employee you’ll receive a tailored induction, telling you more about our charity, how we work and what’s important to us. We’ll also share details of our policies and ways of doing things, so you know what to expect and what’s expected of you.
If you don’t already have a relevant level of safeguarding training, we’ll ensure that you receive this before you have any contact with clients.
Once you’re in place we offer regular CPD training for counsellors/therapists and can provide a letter of evidence for CPD hours needed for other professional bodies such as the Chartered Institute of Marketing or Institute of HR professionals. We’ll also support you with other relevant training you need to undertake your role and ensure you’re kept up to date for example if there’s legislation or IT changes that affect our charity or the role that you’re doing.
Looking ahead, we’re developing a training programme for qualified and just qualified counsellors looking to become specialised as play therapists. This will be accredited by an external body and studied for over a number of months. Check back to find out more details about this in the coming months.
