How we work

Within 4 weeks of us receiving your referral form, we’ll contact you as the client or parent/carer (in case of child) to find out a bit more information about your situation and to answer any questions you may have. We’ll also agree the best place to meet- this may be in school, a local community centre or GP’s practice.

We’ll then aim to offer you an appointment within the next 2-4 weeks. At this first session we’ll discuss the different options available to you and your family. Following this, our work together will properly begin. If you have any questions whilst you’re waiting for an assessment session, you can contact us on 07552 219806.

Usually, you’ll be offered a number of planned, regular sessions. These will last between 50 minutes and 90 minutes depending on the work we do together. You may see your therapist on a one-to-one basis, as a couple, parent and child or as a family.

What you talk about in the session will vary depending on the problem you want help with and the type of therapy you’re getting. Whilst all our clients have individual needs and experiences, areas which are commonly talked about include:

  • Your relationships
  • Your childhood
  • Your emotions
  • Your thoughts
  • Your behaviour
  • Situations or events you find difficult

From time to time during therapy we’ll ask you to complete questionnaires to help us understand how you’re doing and what changes are taking place. This can help us assess and better understand the progress of the work we’re doing together.  We’ll also ask you for feedback so we can make sure our service is meeting your needs.
